TO EXPLORE ENDLESSLY, PLAY WILDLY AND CONNECT DEEPLY

HANDSTANDS
&
HAND BALANCING

Together we will build presence and develop an understanding of how to balance on your hands in playful, explorative workshop.

This workshop is a stepping stone.

Whether new to handstands or building your existing practice, this workshop will explore the fundamentals and train specific drills to build strength, balance and confidence.

What to expect:

Using methods given to me from teachers like Dylan Werner, and throughout recent years of my own practice, this workshop is all about increasing trust in yourself and building skills required for handstands and other hand balances.

I have personally used the movements and practices in this workshop in recent years to learn the skills I practice today. Additionally I have taught many movers to balance on their hands using the same techniques.

You will benefit from the fact that these are newly acquired skills for me too!

They are not stale, or forgotten throughout the many years of practice. I know what works, what doesn't and the bad habits we learn early.

Most importantly, how to learn skill based movements even when being a tight, outdoor athlete.

As your teacher during this workshop and following, I will provide you with the skills necessary to balance on your hands; however the practice and work itself, must come from you.

During our two weeks we will work on: â€‹

  • STRENGTH: Drills to develop upper body strength, increase coordination and create more durable wrists and shoulders

  • STABILITY: Ignite your entire core in ways that can be applied to finding balance on your hands and all sports and activities. A tool necessary for the hybrid athlete

  • BREATH: Breath continues to be the catalyst in change for my entire movement practice and that of my clients. That includes in-studio, and outside

  • PLAY: How to practice using a wall, partner and other props so that you can take the drills away and continue playing on your own

And the following specific patterns:

  • Handstand and other inversions

  • Crow variations, Koundinyasana (which you will see much more of in class)

  • Introduction to Forearm Stand and other advanced postures
