HANDSTAND
LEVEL 1

Beginner & Intermediate

Get ready to find balance and build your foundation for one of the greatest demonstrations of strength and skill.
 

This workshop is all about developing trust in yourself, finding focus and building skills required for handstands and translatable to other sports.
 

Whether new to handstands or building your existing practice, this workshop will explore the fundamentals and train specific drills to build strength, balance and confidence as a group.

About:

 

Level 1 is about learning and practising skills, building strength and developing the awareness you need to begin or continue your handstand journey.

During our two weeks we will work on: 

  • STABILITY: Ignite your entire core in ways that can be applied to finding balance on your hands and all sports and activities. A tool necessary for the hybrid athlete.

  • STRENGTH: Drills to develop upper body strength, increase coordination and create more durable wrists and shoulders.

  • FOCUS: I’ll share with you my favourite secrets and tools in shifting your awareness to the right places to balance, but also create greater awareness.

  • PRACTICE: How to practice using a wall, partner and other props so that you can take the drills away and continue training

If you want to continue training handstands following this Level 1 there will be many options.

Level 2 and 3 will proceed this workshop; additionally, there is a high likelihood of a private group in between.

Consider this workshop an entry point or a return to practice if you've had some time off.

  • When it's full, it's full! This is less about space than it is about being able to adequately coach everyone in the group.

Prerequisites:​​

I ask that you have the confidence to kick up into a wall and the strength to hold a *Pike Position with feet elevated:

*A good way to prep for this workshop is to add these into your training for 3-5 sets of 20-40 seconds:

Injuries:

  • If you have any shoulder, wrist or other existing injuries that would inhibit your ability to load your arms with your bodyweight, please work on healing first

This workshop is a prerequisite:

This Level 1 workshop will be a prerequisite for Level 2 and 3.
